Mitchell is a fifteen-year-old youth who has at long last made up his mind to go and see his family doctor about his abusive and hazardous drinking. As a result, the doctor also recommended that Mitchell talk to his Mother and Father about seeking counseling in order to attend to his sense of despair. In fact, Mitchell would be able to go to the local counseling center and make an appointment with Doctor Johnson, a renowned counseling psychologist who specializes in treating teenagers.

The family doctor made it a point to notify Mitchell that he might not inevitably be dependent on alcohol, but that he was obviously drinking in an abusive manner. In other words, Mitchell was engaging in youth alcohol abuse.

The family doctor then informed Mitchell that the reason he recommended alcohol rehab in the first place was because he wanted him to deal with his drinking problems, make sure that he stopped them from escalating, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to completely refrain from drinking. In brief, by effectively treating his alcohol drinking problems, Mitchell would finally be able to get his hazardous drinking under control and refrain from the negative series of events that could possibly result in alcoholism.

Mitchell certainly did not look forward to facing his parents about his abusive drinking and his depression. And he unquestionably did not want to face the thought of getting admitted into an alcohol rehab program. And finally, he was not thrilled about going to a counselor about his excessive sadness. Despite these trepidations, then again, Mitchell in reality experienced some emotional relief for the first time in many months because he ultimately gave up making excuses for himself and finally made up his mind to do something constructive about his careless and abusive drinking.
