My sister and I designed a baby shower for one of our nieces. We made the decision to have it in the fellowship area of the local church because of the fact that it was a large guest list. We had the baby shower party on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't want to get too elaborate with the baby shower decorations because of the fact that we needed to have the complete area cleaned out immediately after the party. We did want to have a few decorations for baby shower to give the room a festive feel. There is a cradle that is passed to each new mother for the baby to sleep in for the first 4 to six weeks. This bassinet was my mother's. We determined that we would use the bassinet as the center of our baby shower party decorations.

The fellowship section has big round tables that seat ten people. We moved 1 table off on its own to be the gift table. We covered this table with a smooth pink table cloth; our niece knows she is having a girl. We set the cradle in the center of the table. We made the decision to use our presents for the baby shower decorations. I had obtained a pink and white baby blanket, which we draped over the side of the cradle. We pinned several rattles and other baby toys to the blanket with diaper pins. We then showed the little ensembles that my sister had bought. We finished the baby shower party decorations for the gift table by placing a big stuffed bear into the bassinet. It is so much fun to decorating for a baby shower!

For the food service table we had an array of fresh flowers from the neighborhood florist. She used soft pink carnations, baby's breathe and daisies for the arrangement. We determined that no other baby shower decorations needed to be put on this table. We did have pink napkins that we put on this table, together with a cake that was decorated with a stork holding a tiny doll in a pink frosting blanket.

We had also ordered a corsage for our niece and one for every of the new grandmothers to be. We felt that the room looked very nice and we would not have to spend a whole lot of time cleaning up baby shower decorations because of the fact that they would all be sent home as gifts to our niece.

We had a great turn out for the baby shower. My niece received several very nice presents. She was glad that we had the baby shower party in a space that was not small. As she progresses with the maternity she is feeling more claustrophobic. Within 30 minutes after the baby shower was over the fellowship area was cleaned up and we were on our way home.
